Events

It has been an exciting year thus far for SRBL Architects. After celebrating our one year anniversary in our new office space in May, we are feeling settled and enjoying all that this dynamic space has to offer.

Within the past several months, three new members have joined the SRBL team. Mallory Scholl and Angela Corradin are both 2007 graduates from the University of Michigan. Benjamin Telian also comes to us from Michigan, with three years experience working on commercial projects.

Awards

The Village of Orland Park Police Headquarters was awarded LEED™ Gold Certification in October. SRBL is immensely proud of this dynamic, daylight-filled police facility; the first police station in the nation to receive this rating. The project was also recently presented the Honor Award for Sustainable Design by the American Institute of Architects Northeast Chapter.

New Commissions

2007 has been highly successful for SRBL Architects as we have been fortunate enough to establish several new working relationships and deepen our existing relationships with many past clients.

The Wheeling Village Hall broke ground in September and is anticipated to be complete in January 2009. The 53,872 square foot facility is a source of great pride for SRBL because the building marks the continuation of a long-term relationship SRBL shares with the Village; having previously completed several Space Needs Analyses and two Park District facilities.

SRBL’s prosperous year in police and fire projects has allowed us to further develop and expand our reputation as Public Safety Specialists. Currently, SRBL has six fire station projects in design or construction. New stations for the Bartlett, Lake Villa and McHenry Township Fire Protection Districts are all in construction; and new stations for Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Fire Protection District and the Hoffman Estates and Western Springs Fire Departments are in design.

SRBL was awarded the opportunity to team with MTI Construction Services on the Elk Grove Village Administration and Public Safety Complex at the beginning of 2007. The 80,000 square foot facility, currently in construction, marks the twelfth project on which SRBL has collaborated with MTI. The project is due to be complete in the summer of 2009.

SRBL has three other police stations in progress; among them new facilities for the City of Northlake (currently in design), the Village of Palatine and the Village of Skokie (both currently in preliminary design phases).
