Staff Insights

“What are the benefits of starting your career at SRBL straight out of school?”

Ryan: "For me it was an easy choice since SRBL’s core values align so well with my own personal values.  By starting at SRBL, I have had the opportunity to work on and gain experience with multiple projects in our specialty areas.  Starting as a Staff Designer and working my way up to Project Manager and now to Associate/Production Manager has allowed for me to gain a firm grasp on projects and the office operations from all perspectives, enabling me deliver a better product to our clients and run office production more efficiently and effectively.”

“What surprised you when you came to work at SRBL?”

Jamie: “I was surprised at how open the office was. Offices do not have doors, partition walls are low enough to easily communicate throughout the office. Communication within our workspaces is encouraged.”

“What makes SRBL different than your work experience with other architectural firms?”

Krista:   “SRBL is different than other firms because we are always trying to better ourselves.  In design, quality control, communication, technology, etc. We are always striving to improve ourselves, our buildings, and our firm.”

Careers at FGM Architects

Since 1945, FGM has been a force in the design of facilities that define a community, its schools, colleges and universities; its city halls and office buildings; its fire and police stations. We are the recipient of many design awards for those buildings, but our most important awards are the continuing projects that come from a roster of satisfied clients. The clients and communities we serve are pleased with our designs, and just as pleased with our service.

Our staff is key to that satisfaction, and our most important asset. FGM's staff of 75 operates from three Illinois locations: Oak Brook, Chicago and O'Fallon. Each office offers project diversity, the highest level of technological tools, and leadership characterized by their willingness to collaborate and mentor. Our firm received the AIA Illinois Distinguished Firm Award in 2003 and is annually ranked on Crain's List as one of Chicago's largest architecture firms. We are a member of the U.S. Green Building Council and many of our architects are LEED Accredited Professionals. In addition, FGM's responsible fiscal management and market diversity make us a smart place to start or continue your career.

We know that building a great firm means continuously recruiting talented individuals who share our values. We encourage you to submit your resume so that we can begin the process of getting to know you.

You may email your resume to career@fgmarchitects.com. Please indicate the FGM office where you would like to work and, for architectural positions, please send up to three JPEG images from your portfolio. Do not direct us to your website to review your work and do not submit anything that you would like to have returned. If we find a match between your experience and our current needs, we will contact you in order to arrange for a personal interview.

We look forward to hearing from you.
