Schaumburg Park District

WaterWorks

Cost of Construction: $6,200,000

Size:  47,122 SF New, 5,500 SF Remodeled

Status: Completed June 1995

Challenge/Goal:  The Park District was looking to create a family-oriented, state-of-the-art indoor aquatic center that would enhance its offerings at the Community Recreation Center.

Solution:  SRBL was awarded this project as the winner of an intensive design competition among three leading recreational design specialists. Each firm was instructed to design what they believed to be the most successful and profitable indoor aquatic facility. Waterworks, at the time, was one of Illinois’ largest indoor aquatic facilities with three different pools; a zero-depth edged leisure pool, a 6-lane, 75-foot lap pool, and a deep-well pool.
