Mount Prospect
Emergency Operations Center
Cost of Construction: $1,715,000
Size: 4,550 SF
Status: Completed February 2010
Challenge/Goal: A history with severe weather conditions left Mount Prospect vulnerable and unable to communicate with its residents or interdepartmentally. The Village decided to build an emergency operations center for incidental preparedness.
Solution: SRBL designed the EOC with maximum floor plan flexibility and state-of-the-art technological equipment and infrastructure. Raised ceilings in the Command Room topped with clerestory windows allow natural light into the building and a visual connection to outdoor weather. The facility has been designed to withstand hurricane force winds and won " Project of theYear" for the Chicago chapter of the American Public Works Association.
