Glenview Park District
Park Services Maintenance Facility
Cost of Construction: $4,385,383
Size: 22,000 SF
Status: May 2010
Challenge/Goal: The goal was to partially relocate the Park District’s maintenance operation from an outdated facility to a modern facility – to be built as part of a large sports field’s development. The District decided pursue “green until it hurt.”
Solution: The facility features a large garage space and two-acre concrete yard, with offices, locker rooms and a large, light-filled, multi-purpose space that can serve community events. A timber canopy reaches out to the fields and provides storm shelter. Green features include geo-thermal heating, a cistern and reflective and green roofs.
