Police Stations

Buildings that serve and protect.

Designing a police station is among the toughest assignments in public building architecture. Today, our buildings have to be stealth-like in their design – addressing the intricacies of police work while promoting transparency and community good will –without sacrificing officer or public safety.

At SRBL, we spend countless hours working with police departments to intimately learn about each of their unique operations so we can strategically apply our knowledge to their facilities.  Everything becomes part of our detailed equation to create the most effective facility possible.

Our police agency experience spans over two decades and includes over 35 projects – from new and remodeled police stations to communication centers to lockup facility renovations; for both large and small departments.

Leaving It In Better Condition

The Challenge: How do you take a 40-year-old industrial building 40% larger than required for its new use and tailor it to become a state-of-the-art police headquarters?
The Solution: SRBL designed a solution that involved carving out interior courtyards and pulling back the new exterior walls that resulted in abundant natural light and deep overhangs.
