Cost of Construction: $6,573,655
Size: 40,777 SF
Status: Completed September 2006
Challenge/Goal: Through strategic planning and community involvement, the Gurnee Park District became aware of a great need in the community for additional program spaces for fitness and other activities, including a place to have before-and-after-school programs.
Solution: Teaming with the Park District, SRBL designed a new, two-story facility that provided an open gym, machine and free weight area, indoor running track, and a climbing wall. A separate preschool wing and family activity center wing – that provides activities such as air hockey, computers, and Dance Dance Revolution provided the much-needed additional space.
